Planning a day trip from Tbilisi is simpler than you might think. You have two main options for getting around. For ultimate comfort and convenience, consider booking a Go Trip car. This option provides you with a driver for 24 hours, giving you the flexibility to stop wherever your heart desires on the way.

The trip cost approximately 300 GEL, depending on the car and driver. For a group of four, it’s just 75 GEL per person (about 25€ each). Alternatively, if you’re up for a little self-navigation, renting your own car is an option.

First stop: Diamond Bridge

Your day begins with the exciting drive from Tbilisi to the Diamond Bridge, a landmark that’s fast becoming a must-visit in Georgia travel itineraries. This iconic bridge, a proof of human cleverness, spans a valley, offering breathtaking views that seem right out of a postcard.

The drive from Tbilisi takes approximately two hours, with plenty of opportunities to pause and soak in the scenery along the way.

The Diamond Bridge has faced criticism for its high cost, as it is more expensive than many other attractions in Georgia, with a price of 79 GEL (as of November 2024).

The bridge, surrounded by stunning natural beauty, is definitely worth a stop if you’re passing by to see other attractions. However, I wouldn’t make a special trip just to see the bridge alone.

In addition to the bridge, you can enjoy a scenic around hour-long walk to a nearby waterfall.

Enjoy a Georgian Lunch in Tsalka Village

After enjoying the stunning views of the Diamond Bridge, you might feel hungry. No worries—Tsalka Village is just a short drive away and offers an authentic culinary experience. I highly recommend having lunch at Pontia, a Georgian restaurant known for its hearty dishes and warm atmosphere. The prices are really reasonable, and the flavors are sure to impress, making this stop a memorable part of your day.

Discovering Gorelovka Village

After enjoying a delicious lunch, continue your journey to Gorlovka Village, a hidden gem in Georgia. The drive takes about 1.5 hours, offering breathtaking views of beautiful mountains and serene lakes. This remote, untouched region of Georgia will leave you in awe as you gaze out the window at the stunning landscape.

Gorelovka village is often hailed as the most colorful village in Georgia. It’s a charming and small settlement, adorned with vibrant little houses. In 1978, Gorelovka was home to 3,000 Doukhobors. Today, the village stands empty, with the Doukhobors visiting only once a year, as a local informed us. The gate is left open for free visits, although the houses were closed during our visit.

Poka Monastery and Its Amazing Views

As you head back to Tbilisi, be sure to stop at Poka. The Poka Monastery is nestled among peaceful mountains and looks out over a calm lake. Nearby, an open church adds to the charm of the area, especially at sunset when the sky turns into a colorful display. Enjoying this scene surrounded by nature is an ideal way to end your day’s adventures.

While the Diamond Bridge and the main attractions are captivating enough, there are other gems worth considering if time allows. Before arriving at the Diamond Bridge, consider taking a short detour to Asureti Village. You might also explore the Kojori area, home to the Azeula Fortress and Udzo Monastery.

Good to Know!

This region experiences extremely cold winters, with temperatures dropping as low as -40 degrees. When we visited in November, it was significantly colder than Tbilisi, so be sure to dress warmly and check the weather forecast before your trip.
