When should I visit the South Coast of Sri Lanka?

The best time to visit the South Coast of Sri Lanka is from December to March, which is considered the dry season. During this time, you can expect sunny days and calm seas, making it perfect for beach activities and water sports. However, do keep in mind that this is also the peak tourist season, so prices may be higher.

We traveled during the shoulder season, from mid-October to mid-November, and found it to be the ideal time because of the significant discounts available at many places. The weather was generally pleasant during the day, although we experienced frequent afternoon rain showers.
