Marshmellow Café – This place is great for breakfast and lunch. They have amazing special avocado toasts that you should definitely try! It’s right next to the ocean and a stunning place to visit. This was one of our favorite places.

When should I visit Ahangama?

The best time to visit Ahangama is from November to April, when the weather is dry and sunny. However, if you’re a surfer, the ideal time to visit would be between May and October when the waves are at their best. Keep in mind that December and January tend to be peak tourist season, so expect higher prices and larger crowds during this time.

How long to stay in Ahangama?

We recommend spending 3-4 days in Ahangama to fully explore this charming town. Enjoy the beaches, try restaurants, and take day trips to nearby attractions. If you’re a surfer or seeking a relaxed beach getaway, consider extending your stay for a week or more. Ahangama’s laid-back atmosphere and beautiful surroundings make it the perfect spot to unwind.

How to get to Ahangama?

The closest major airport to Ahangama is located in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital city. From there, you can take a taxi or hire a private driver for the 2-3 hour journey to Ahangama.

Alternatively, you can also take a train from Colombo Fort Station to Ahangama (approx. 3-4 hours).

If you’re already in Sri Lanka, you can also take a local bus to Ahangama from nearby cities such as Galle or Mirissa. Once you’re in Ahangama, getting around is easy with tuk-tuks readily available.
